Monastery stay.

I haven’t given up on humanity as yet, and want to contribute in any way I can, despite being at an age where many would be satisfied just enjoying retirement.

I feel that when I discuss matters of spirituality in particular, there remains areas where more study is needed and therefore, I decided to put things aside, leave this blank for as long as it needs to be, and will be heading for a forest monastery. My hope is to be able to clarify and better communicate what I feel is important and maybe useful to others. But never with the pretense of having found a complete truth. That is beyond any human being and anyone claiming to have that truth is at best deluding themselves. So, apologies, but it’s a bit like taking your soul to the laundry, or similar to what physicist Feynman said is the best technique for learning. That being study and then explain it back to someone, and if there are areas where you still hesitate, then they are where further study is needed.

The monastery is in northern Thailand, strict in every way it can be, but I hope to get the opportunity to discuss with the monks my Zen-inspired beliefs in the concept of the Void, and the practical implications of it being, as D T Suzuki wrote, the coincidence of affirmation and negation. Simple, but given the void is not included in human knowledge, things can get confusing, a situation made worse by that human instinct to want to know, and ignoring that knowledge can be an obstacle to knowing. OK – shut up Paul. Ommmm
